OK, here's the second mystery photo. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help figure out the who/when/where of the photo.

Looks to me like the score is 2-0 but it might be 3-0.

...but this guy has the wrong uniform #. Howe was #57.
Bottom of the eighth . . . 2-1?
It looks like maybe two balls, probably two strikes, and definitely two outs.

October 4, 1992, Fenway Park.
Sox leading 8-2 in the bottom of the eighth.
Here's the action:
RED SOX 8TH: NIELSEN REPLACED SPRINGER (PITCHING); Hatcher lined to right; Cooper walked; Wedge forced Cooper (pitcher to
shortstop) [Wedge to first]; RIVERA BATTED FOR VAUGHN; Rivera struck out
Props to this site for the help with uniform numbers:

Here's a baseball card of Nielsen I found on-line:

Note the two strands of leather coming off his glove in both photos.
Rob Murphy
Sterling Hitchcock
Jerry Nielsen
Walt Terrell
Googling pictures....
It's definitely not Hitchcock. The nose is all wrong, for one thing.
It doesn't look like an unmistachioed Walt Terrell, although the pitching motion is somewhat similar.

There's somewhat of a resemblance to Nielsen, who was obviously in the habit of pitching with his mouth open like this guy is:
http://www.geocities.com/nolefan_fsu/baseball/nielsen_jerry.html
He also looks like Murphy a little bit; the ears look similar:

I'm guessing it's Nielsen but leaving open the possibility that it could be Murphy.
Leary did once pitch into the 8th at Fenway for the Yanks (6/16/92) - but the score in the 8th was 2-1 Boston, which doesn't fit what the scoreboard in the photo seems to say.
He was a helluva hitter, though.
