Stupid Humbug Stat Tricks - All-Star closer (only at home) Edition

Much of the Brewers success this season can be attributed to the work of closer Francisco Cordero, who has amassed a Major League-best 32 saves.

However, Cordero has been Jekyll and Hyde when it comes to his performance at home and on the road:

Split G GS GF W L S CG SHO IP ERA H R ER HR BB SO
Home 28 0 25 0 0 21 0 0 27 0.33 8 1 1 0 11 38
Away 17 0 16 0 4 11 0 0 15.2 8.62 28 15 15 1 3 19

Yes, you are reading that right. His ERA at home is roughly 1/26th of his road ERA. He is allowing 2.66 hits per 9 innings at home, and 16.6 hits per 9 innings on the road. Even more strangely, his control and K/BB rates are substantially better on the road.

Split G PA AB R H 2B 3B HR BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS BAbip
Home 28 101 89 1 8 1 0 0 11 38 .090 .190 .101 .291 .157
Away 17 75 70 15 28 7 0 1 3 19 .400 .419 .543 .962 .529

The .157/.529 BABIP split boggles the mind. Is Cordero THAT hit-lucky at home (or hit-unlucky on the road)? Are the Brewers defenders napping on the road, while on their toes in front of their faithful fans?

Given his 2.10/5.48 home/road ERA split, the recently-acquired Scott Linebrink isn't the answer to the Crew's closer problems on the road either.
