In Which I Don't Even Mention Greg Maddux

by Score Bard

While stumped by which needs were addressed,
I'm awed by the Dodgers' new quest
To catch every Ray
And transform L.A.
To glamorous Tampa Bay West.

It's amazing how these little verses are frequently more insightful than the sum total of the verbiage on two or three nights' worth of "Baseball Tonight" now that Gammons is gone.

Flanders made some odd moves, this is true
But we die-hards still bleed Dodger blue
In oh-six we're bitching
But with better pitching
In oh-seven good things start to brew

Not one of my better efforts, I'm afraid. I love limericks but find them difficult to do using clean words.

Yours was terrific, btw.

McLean had 1959
But I'm guessing this willl do fine
In putting me through pangs
Of deep-searing angst.
Wake me up when I can come up with a decent meter and/or rhyme.

1 Baseball Tonight? Don't you mean "Red Sox Tonight"? (Even without Gammons...)

Meanwhile, we Dodger fans prefer Maddux to the Maalox we needed after watching some of our backend pitchers this year. (sorry, I couldn't be bothered to write a real limerick - this is more experimental prose.)

Though it wasn't the greatest of fears,
In LA, we still have, it appears -
Though we gave away Cesar
(For a quality geezer)-
Shortstops still come out of our ears.

3 Rhyming "pangs" with "angst"...

(swatting with a rolled up newspaper) No! Nnnno!

If the last line was not clarification enough, respect for the language was not my priority with that.
