I know why instantly because the blogger in question is my pal Jay Jaffe. I'll avoid spoiling it any further.

I'm glad I didn't end up answering the riddle because I think it was like the Riddle of the Syphinx and it would lead to all sorts of antisocial behavior on my part. Especially since my mother is dead.

Even though I couldn't do Final Humbugardy, as I had 0 points, I still enjoyed this immensely. Thanks, Scorebard - and when do we do this again?

i take great comfort in knowing my score was higher than bob's, and that nobody got the final one right.

If I had bet zero, I would have won.

I found the question, and laughed out loud:) I'd read it before and forgotten. I second that it's a fantastic story.

Finding the answer to that question requires you to think not just outside the box but outside the condiment bar.

5. would that be a "first-to-wurst" scenario?

I tend to wonder if I would have gotten it had the second line of the clue been "Speaking of wurst" rather than "worst." Impossible to say, but I didn't have enough points to win anyway.
